If you are set to embark on your next adventure, wherever it may be, you might be at the point where you need to pack. Some love it, some hate it, but to put it bluntly, we all have to do it; especially if we want to enjoy time away from work and the daily stresses of life.
If you are one of the many hundreds out there that loathe packing and leave everything until the last minute, we have set out to provide you with our top tips on packing, to make life easier for you!
Packing Tips
When travelling on holiday to Cornwall this summer, it’s worth thinking about the journey you will need to make. Are you travelling by car, coach, train or even plane? Most people will have a member of the family that complains about the journey time, consistently asking ‘are we there yet?’, every half an hour! One of the best things you can do is to consider how you will keep the kids occupied with things that will pass the time, whether you are in the car or on a long train journey from the north to the south or the east to the west.
Below, we have listed 3 key things everyone should pack when about to embark on a on a long journey. You might want to keep these close in your handheld luggage, rucksack or handbag.
- Playing Cards – you might think playing cards are a thing of the past, but they are perfect for keeping everyone in the family entertained. You can play games in the car or on the train and even when you are on holiday, under the canvas of your tent or cuddled up in a cosy lodge. There’s nothing like a good game of cards!
- Snacks – everyone has a Dad that doesn’t want to stop because he wants to get there quickly without stopping (it might even be you). If you’re desperate for the loo, he won’t stop then (you’ll just have to hold it) and he certainly won’t stop when you’re hangry (you’ll just have to wait until you get there). To make sure you don’t suffer from hungry-itis when you’re on your way to Cornwall this summer, make sure you pack plenty of snacks for the road. Crisps, chocolate bars and drinks are perfect for all the family, or fruit for those of that prefer a healthy snack.
- Portable Chargers – If you have kids that like to play iPads or teenagers that like to listen to music or stare at their phones for hours, it’s worth making sure you have an in-car charger or a portable charger that works on a plane or train. Carry it close to you and whip it out when your son or daughter starts to complain that their battery is dying!
Packing for your Holiday to Cornwall
When it comes to packing for the weather, it’s worth taking the time to look at the 14 day weather prediction to get an insight into the weather you might get. Cornish weather can be quite unpredictable, so pack for every eventuality. Sun hats, cream and glasses, combined with a backup raincoat, wellies and flip flops might take up a lot of space, but they’ll save you from having to visit the local shop when the rain starts to pour.
Don’t make the mistake of packing 7 socks for 7 nights, this is a rookie error. Chances are you’ll need a few spare pairs for when your socks get muddy or wet. Cornwall provides ample opportunity to explore the great outdoors, so it can’t hurt to have more than enough socks for ‘just in case’. Pack them in your rucksack if you plan on visiting the beach with the kids. Trust us on this one!
Another backpack essential is plastic bags. If you’re wanting to pack a lunch for your day trip, they’ll come in handy to protect your favourite savoury items.
For the Tent
Not every night is perfect when sleeping in a tent, which is all part of the fun. On top of the obvious items, like your sleeping bags and pillows, some of the key items we’d recommend packing include:
- A hot water bottle – for the chilly nights
- Lanterns and torches – for every compartment
- Bottles and flasks – so drinks don’t get spilt
- A spare towel or small mat – for the entrance of the tent
