There’re so many dog-friendly attractions, beaches and pubs in Cornwall to enjoy with your pooch. Some of our favourite ones are highlighted below, which we hope will become your new favourites too, all within easy reach of the park!

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

One of the most famous gardens in the United Kingdom, The Lost Gardens of Heligan can be found in Pentewan, near Mevagissey – just a 10 minute drive from the park. The gardens are a characterful, colourful and eclectic place, which take you on a journey from Cornwall, to a magical, botanical world…

Dog walkers can start at ‘Apple Arch’ and explore the iconic gardens, including their Woodland Walk, the Pleasure Grounds, and Victorian Productive Gardens. They can also follow the path winding through a sub-tropical jungle with giant rhubarb, majestic tree ferns, and bamboo tunnels too.  With more than 200 acres of land waiting to be explored, these gardens are indeed a paradise for romantic walks, plant and wildlife lovers alike! Making it one of the most peaceful and naturally stunning places to visit during your holiday in Cornwall.

The Eden Project

Feel free to bring your dog to Eden and explore the paths in their beautiful Outdoor Gardens, just a 15 minute drive from park. They provide water bowls and a covered dining area just for dogs. Your furry friend can enjoy miles of outdoor trails there, though please note that dogs aren’t allowed in children’s play areas, the Biomes, or other indoor spaces, except for the Visitor Centre, (including the ticketing hall and shop) and the Core. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the entire Eden site.

Polstreath Beach

This dog-friendly beach is about 14 minutes’ drive from Meadow Lakes Holiday Park. Polstreath is a small sand and pebble cove backed by grassy cliffs with views towards Fowey and Chapel Point. Park in Mevagissey and walk along the coast path to visit the beach, and whilst you’re there, explore the stunning harbour of Mevagissey too!

Caerhays Estate | Cornwall Living

 

Caerhayes Estate

Just an 18 minute drive away is the beautiful Caerhayes estate, offering surrounding coastal walks and beach, as well as stunning, world famous Gardens, open in February & March.  You and your pooch can enjoy the incredible views on offer, and stop off at the beach café which has live music during the summer months. The castle itself was designed by John Nash around 200 years ago and both the building and its occupants have played significant roles in the history of Cornwall.

 

Lappa Valley - Cornwall's Secret World of Play and Trains

If you’re looking for something more active that’s also great for kids, it’s high time that you hop on one of the steam trains to Lappa Valley! Only 30 minutes from park, you can enjoy a fun, family and doggo friendly day out at this wonderful park, which is full of activities such as railways, canoeing and crazy golf.  By paying an extra £1, you can go with your pooch, take them out on canoes, give then a ride on the steam train or just simply enjoy a walk around the beautiful landscape!

 

Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm

 

Healeys Cyder Farm

36 minutes away you’ll find Healey’s Cyder Farm.  This is a trip for the whole family, even though the spotlight is on cyder! Enjoy beautiful outdoor spaces, including the orchards, where well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome. However, please be mindful of the farm animals and free-roaming peacocks.

Further afield but certainly worth a day out, is one of Cornwall’s most popular tourist spots – the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek. It’s a fantastic place for a family day out, where you can meet adorable seals and other sea creatures, many of which have been rescued by the sanctuary! The Seal Sanctuary plays a vital role in animal conservation, making it an educational and enjoyable experience for both kids and adults to learn more about the environment. Plus, many areas of the sanctuary are dog-friendly, so bring your furry friend along to explore Cornwall’s marine life!
