This September, Cornwall Heritage Trust is hosting a brand-new festival at The Lost Gardens of Heligan to celebrate Cornwall’s unique and distinct heritage.

Taking place on Saturday 16th September from 10am – 5pm, this exclusive fun-filled day will be packed with an array of hands-on activities and demonstrations showcasing Cornwall’s arts, culture, traditions, and history.

The festival is called Awenek which means Creative in Cornish, and we really hope this celebration will spark your imagination!

Visitors will be given the chance to explore the gardens and watch demonstrations from creative artists, take part in ‘Make and Take’ activities, listen to Cornish music and enjoy Cornish dancing and storytelling.

Falmouth Oyster Festival 2020 - CANCELLED

Falmouth Oyster Festival

An absolutely incredible annual festival in Falmouth on 12th – 15th October, that celebrates the native Fal Oyster while staging a bucketload of live bands over four days. Previous bands have included local jazz and funk outfit Deep Squid, Celtic folk rockers The Stowe (pictured above) and ‘proper Cornish singers’ The Oggymen, as well as Cornish comedian Johnny Cowling. The food offerings available to tuck into include oysters, oysters and more oysters!

Halloween Half Term at Flambards

‘A few tricks and plenty of treats’, say the organisers. We could have chosen plenty of Halloween events in Cornwall for this recommendation. Or we could have chosen a ton of half-term activities for kids across the Duchy. But no, we went with the famous theme park as Flambards‘ Halloween 2023 comes equipped with a ‘Pumpkin Hunt’ and a Halloween ‘Fireworks Spooktacular’ on Wednesday 25 October that’s always a scream. Few places in Cornwall do Halloween and half-term better than this oh-so-famous theme park.
