The Best Cornwall Christmas Light Displays 2019
There’s nothing quite like the magical feeling of seeing twinkling Christmas lights all around is there?
From shimmering harbours to floating illuminations, Cornwall has some of the best Christmas light displays in the UK. Several of the villages have now been running displays for decades and for many people, the event marks the start of the Christmas season! We’ve picked our favourite festive events to light up your Christmas…
Mousehole Lights
Nothing says Christmas in Cornwall like the sight of Mousehole Harbour all lit up. A staple of Cornish childhoods (who didn’t argue with their siblings over which was better – the Sea Serpent or the Whale). You can’t beat wandering through the small cobbled streets, mulled wine in hand, spotting your favourite lights in the crisp Cornish air.
The lights will be switched on, on Saturday 14th December and will be on daily from 5pm-11pm, until the 4th January. This is except for one hour, on the anniversary of Penlee Lifeboat tragedy when they are dimmed as a mark of respect for those who lost their lives.
Angarrack Lights
The only thing better than one festive village, is two! What could be better on a chilly December evening than seeing as many Christmas lights as possible? From the 1st of December, when the lights are switched on, you can see the Twelve Days of Christmas in lights in Angarrack.
Eden Project
Between 30th November-30th December, experience a Christmas like no other at the magical Eden Project. The domes and gardens look spectacular all lit up, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a magical Christmas world! You can visit Father Christmas, go ice skating and attend the Christmas Jumper Swap Shop too.
Their cafés will be serving delicious seasonal food to warm you up and get you in the festive mood, and there is also a chance to do some shopping afterwards in their fantastic gift shop, which is open until late on selected evenings.
Cadgwith
Christmas comes to life in Cadgwith when the lights are switched on in this small, pretty fishing village on the Lizard Peninsula. As well as traditional Christmas sights, the illuminations take inspiration from the village’s surroundings. Expect to see boats, crabs, octopus and other marine life! Father Christmas will make an appearance at the Cove Inn, and there will be carol singing with the Cadgwith Singers too.
